OAC Open Studio Tours
If you've ever looked at a work of art and wondered how the artist created it, you'll really enjoy the Ossining Arts Council's (OAC) Open Studios self-guided tour on Saturday, October 14th.
On that date more than 20 local artists will open the doors to their inner sanctums, aka studios, from 11 am to 4 pm, allowing visitors the rare opportunity to witness the artistic process firsthand, ask questions and purchase artworks directly from artists.
"The Ossining area is fortunate to be home to many artists working in a wide variety of mediums," said OAC President Mark Sarazen. "We're excited to sponsor an event that allows art lovers to see what takes place behind the scenes."
The tour will feature painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, digital artists and others.
Tickets and maps will be available at the Ossining Farmers Market on Saturdays Sept. 30, Oct 7 and 14, 9:30 am to 1 pm and also at First Village Coffee at 123 Main Street, Ossining
There will be a suggested donation of $5 to support the OAC.
Or, you may also purchase your tickets at Brown Paper Tickets

Self-Portrait Workshop with Dominique Medici
The Ossining Arts Council is pleased to welcome Dominique Medici to The Steamer Firehouse Gallery on Jan 30th-31st 2016 for a Self-Portrait Workshop.
The Self-Portrait has been a tradition for artists through the millennia, serving as both a historical document and window into the interior of the artists being. There is a quality and intensity in the way we observe when drawing and painting. Turning this level of awareness back on ourselves is a revealing and inspiring process.
During this 2 day painting workshop Dominique Medici will demonstrate and give individual instruction each day. We will consider the following aspects of a self-portrait. We will start with the basics such as brush and palette care, panel preparation and setting up the workspace. Then move on to composition, drawing and proportions. We will learn about developing basic light and shade, modeling the form and finally achieving a good likeness. My Goal is that each student walks away with a clear understanding of how to approach a self-portrait.
Saturday, January 30 and Sunday January 31 9 - 4 PM
Steamer Firehouse Gallery, 117 Main Street 2nd floor, Ossining
$250 for both days
