Anne-Claude Cotty

I've enjoyed a career evenly divided between teaching and studio practice. I taught art in public and private schools, at conferences and community events and on the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts faculty. For nearly 40 years, I lived on Deer Isle, Maine in a studio equipped with an etching press, a letterpress, a photo darkroom, metalworking tools and a bookbinder's press, papers and cloth. My pinhole photographs, artist books, monoprints and metal assemblages have been included in a number of gallery, museum and traveling shows. And since moving to this area, I've caught the fiber "bug", sewing by hand mural-size art quilts using parts of my photographs I've printed on silk. I have an M.S. in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown and an M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Alberta (Canada).
