Inaugural Art for the River Auction Event: A First-Time Success
Over 50 attendees joined us, raising $2,000 through ticket sales alone. When combined with artwork sales, the event raised almost $5,000 to support Riverkeeper’s important work.
Looking Ahead
Building on this success, the Ossining Arts Council is already looking ahead to future auctions with even bigger goals. As part of our mission to promote and showcase the talents of all Ossining, Westchester, and Hudson Valley artists, we plan to partner with organizations and nonprofits that have strong community ties and broad reach,to offer artists more opportunities and to raise awareness and funds for important causes.
The OAC’s first auction event proved just how powerful art can be in bringing people together to support causes that matter. With nearly three-quarters of the artworks - paintings, pastels, photographs, mosaics, and ceramics - sold, an enthusiastic crowd, and substantial funds raised, we laid the foundation for what we hope will become a cherished tradition—a celebration of art and community that makes a real difference.
We’d like to thank those who attended and supported the event as well as those artists who shared their work. Together, we’re building a brighter future and raising funds for worthy causes, one piece of art at a time.
Special Thanks
Special thanks goes to Reverend Hal Roark of Grace Church, for his energy and generosity in calling the live auction, and to Louzette Dovaras, Manager of Events & Corporate Partnerships at Riverkeeper, for her invaluable time, enthusiasm, and guidance. Also, special thanks to Greg and Becca Young, our hosts at Ossining Riverworks, who were essential to making Art For the River a great success.
