President I joined the OAC to get to know people in Ossining who make art. I became a Board member and an officer to do my part to make OAC events and exhibitions happen. It’s gratifying to see plans and ideas become opportunities for Ossining’s talented artists to share their work and experience and insights with each other and our community.

Co-Vice President After retiring in 2017 from a 45+ year career in housing and urban development, I began to study portrait drawing and oil painting at the Westchester County Art Center. Through those classes, I met members of the Ossining Arts Council and became a member myself. I joined OAC's Board to give back to the organization that has given me so much—in friendship, community, inspiration, confirmation, and encouragement, and in opportunities to learn, share and practice the art that I love.

Co-Vice President As a long-time member of the Ossining community, I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the Ossining Arts Council. My passion for the arts, rooted in years of drawing and painting, drives my commitment to explore and celebrate diverse creative expressions. In this role, I am dedicated to enhancing and promoting our local arts scene, set against the backdrop of the scenic Hudson River. Working alongside fellow artists and art enthusiasts, I am committed to bringing compelling art events and exhibitions to our area. It is an honor to contribute to the OAC’s mission of nurturing and showcasing the rich artistic talent we have right here in Ossining.

Treasurer I joined the OAC shortly after moving to Ossining in 2006. Thanks to OAC, I have been exposed to a wide variety of art styles and introduced to many creative artists from the area. The OAC offers an opportunity to show your art to the public, and network with creative and imaginative people with a variety of skills and experiences. I joined the Board after retiring and became Treasurer to help with this wonderful volunteer-run organization.

Secretary I am interested in remembering people from the objects that surrounded them during their life. My portraits attempt to reveal the essence that I felt from them. I use a style of collage but in oil paint using materials for reference gleaned from photographs and memorabilia. In a certain way the portraits are biographies of the person.

Art is the way I breathe. For me it’s a form of survival. It is vital to me and the multitude of members here at the OAC. To have an art presence here in Ossining…right along the Hudson River-was a no brainer. It is so important to have a strong visible art community! I have taught art in the Hudson Valley for over 30 years, as well as pursuing my own constantly evolving artwork. It is an honor for me to be a trustee and member on the board for the Ossining Arts Council.

Having been a member of the OAC for a long time and being able to exhibit my work and enjoy all the benefits of a talented crew- it’s time to give back. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Danny Oppenheim

I began my creative journey building a darkroom as a teenager, and over the years have explored the intersections of art, technology, and science. Along the way, I’ve composed music performed internationally and developed one of the first interactive applications for composing and performing music. I am honored to serve on the OAC Board and look forward to giving back—supporting our community, its many artists, and especially those just beginning their artistic paths.

I've always had an interest in, and a knack for making art. Upon moving to Ossining, I was introduced to the Ossining Arts Council and knew this was the organization for me. As a new member, I felt welcomed, was impressed by the group's talent, and admired its dedication to fostering and preserving the arts in the lower Hudson Valley. I am honored to be part of this community and to serve on the Board, and am excited to further OAC's mission, because art is essential.

I joined the OAC Board because I see a  great need for art in the Hudson Valley. Because I am a passionate artist, I believe that through the expression of painting, composition, and color, an artist can capture a mood or feeling in life.  In a sense we convey a moment in time.
