Water Lilies on Hudson
WHAT:
A free outdoor art experience
Transport yourself to the late 19th Century and experience Water Lilies on Hudson. The Ossining Arts Council and Ossining Recreation and Parks bring this bygone era alive as a living art event. People in period costume wander the grounds of Cedar Lane Park and pose for your artistic experience. Bring a sketch pad and pastels, an easel and oils or acrylics, or your favorite medium and create your own masterpiece with the water lilies and pond as your backdrop. There will be drawing activities for children, overseen by Ossining Arts Council artists. The event and activity are free.
For historical context, review the work of Claude Monet and Henry Ossawa Tanner: Monet, the well-known French painter, and Tanner, an African American painter who studied with Thomas Eakins in Philadelphia, revered Monet, and went to Paris to continue his studies.
